Photo from Triangle of the beginning of the show with the full cast spread out across a blue-tinted, dimly lit stage. They are all staring out into the audience, looking slightly up. Behind them is a very large image of the building where the real life Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire took place. A haze is filling the stage.

Triangle

Triangle, a new love story, is set against the backdrop of the infamous Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York and its modern-day inhabitants. The musical follows two romances: a Jewish immigrant seamstress and her Italian foreman, and a graduate student and his relationship with a handsome free-spirited stranger. The show parallels their stories as they are set in the same location, a century apart. Filled with fresh melodies and a poignant narrative, the couples discover what it means to risk everything for love. Audience discretion is advised.

When I first learned that a musical romance would be built around the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire — one of New York’s most devastating industrial disasters (there’s an excellent book about it) — I’ll admit I was skeptical. But Triangle, with its intricate dual narrative structure, won me over…. Read more.

Director's Notes

Photo of Michael Baron. It is a true gift being asked to direct the stunning new musical Triangle by the famous songwriting team of Curtis Moore and Thomas Mizer. I believe it’s important that we bring new musicals to audiences and add to the rich canon of musical theatre. Triangle was the first new musical I directed at my home theatre, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, in 2014. Since that production, the writers have gone on to write the award-winning songs for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel television series.

I am thrilled to revisit this show with members of the original creative team as well as Broadway Rose’s finest talent— both on and off stage. The musical intertwines two love stories set in the same New York City building, unfolding a century apart. Through heartfelt characters and gorgeous melodies, long buried secrets are uncovered, and ghosts of the past begin to influence the future. Broadway Rose is at the forefront of producing new musicals, and I’m thankful to be on the journey with them!
