Anything Goes

Climb aboard for a tap-filled classic this summer! With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, this voyage of the S.S. American between New York and England is filled with a madcap group of passengers, witty repartee, exceptional songs, and thrilling tap dancing. The 2022 revision includes familiar classics from the Great American Songbook such as “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.” This musical will have you rooting for true love to win out in the end. It’s delightful, delicious, and de-lovely.

Courtney Fero as Reno Sweeney

Courtney Fero is thrilled to return to her tap shoes and the Broadway Rose stage! She was recently seen as Velma in Hairspray and as the jump-roping Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde at Stumptown Stages. Other favorite shows include Rogers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Broadway Rose), Cabaret, Tootsie, and The Full Monty (Stumptown Stages), Hairspray (Merry-Go-Round – NY), and Cats (San Diego Musical Theatre). She holds a B.F.A. in Music Theatre from UC Irvine and is currently Adjunct Dance Faculty at the University of Portland.

Matt Casey as Billy Crocker

Matt Casey is ecstatic to be making his Broadway Rose debut! He moved to Portland about a year ago and absolutely loves the beautiful Pacific Northwest. In addition to performing, Matt works as a choreographer, director, and teacher, and most recently choreographed Wilsonville High School’s production of Anastasia. Matt has performed all over the country, and some of his favorite credits include The Music Man (The Goodman Theatre, Chicago), The Producers (Paramount Theatre, Chicago), Next to Normal and Avenue Q (Midtown Arts Center, Colorado), Romeo & Juliet (Roxy Regional Theatre, Tennessee), and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (National Tour).

Joe Theissen as Moonface Martin

Joe Theissen is thrilled to return to the Broadway Rose stage. In addition to his many roles at Broadway Rose, Joe has worked with Lakewood Theatre Company, Pixie Dust Productions, and Oregon Children’s Theatre, among others. Joe’s Broadway Rose credits include Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, The Narrator in Fly By Night, and Gomez Addams in The Addams Family. Other recent appearances include Junie B. Jones (Gladys) at Oregon Children’s Theatre, Man of La Mancha (Pedro) at Lakewood Theatre Company, Beauty and the Beast (Cogsworth), Billy Elliot (George), and La Cage aux Folles (Zaza/Albert) at Pixie Dust Productions. As a vocalist, Joe has been a soloist with the Trinity Consort and a studio vocalist with Pink Martini and Oregon Catholic Press recordings.

Matthew Henry Curl as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh

Matthew Henry Curl is thrilled to set sail aboard the S.S. American with this fantastic cast and crew. Past roles at Broadway Rose include Aarvid Gisselsen in Don’t Hug Me, the Bank Manager in Once, and Harry Bright in Mamma Mia! Additional Portland-area credits include Clue and The Pirates of Penzance at Anonymous Theatre, A Connecticut Yankee at Lakewood Theatre Co., and Oklahoma! at Clackamas Repertory Theatre. Outside of Portland, some of his favorite roles have included Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Eddie in A View from the Bridge, and Bernard in Arcadia. Matthew is best known for his role as a singer-songwriter in the Portland bands Jonah, Hello Morning, The Half Hearted, and as his solo artist moniker, Henry Curl.

Jennifer Davies as Hope Harcourt

Jennifer Davies is grateful to be returning to Broadway Rose after recently being seen in 8-Track: The Sounds of the 70s. She has performed in past Broadway Rose productions such as Rogers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Ella), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Shy), Ripper (Sarah Talbott), and Evita (Peron’s Mistress). When not performing, Jennifer works as a private voice teacher and music director. She earned her Masters Degree in Opera Performance from Portland State University, and B.A. in Music from George Fox University.

Karin Terry as Erma

Karin Terry is a Seattle-based theatre artist, joyfully making their Broadway Rose debut! Most recently, Karin was seen in Bye Bye Birdie at The 5th Avenue Theatre. In 2024, they received a Gregory Nomination for their portrayal of Sally Bowles in Cabaret with Harlequin Productions. Other recent credits include Romeo and Juliet (Seattle Shakespeare Company), Sunset Boulevard (Showtunes Theatre), and Camelot (Village Theatre). Karin toured the Pacific Northwest for six years with vintage-style vocal trio, The Memphis Belles.

Lisa Knox as Mrs. Evangeline Harcourt

Lisa Knox has returned to the theatre world after a 25+ year career as a professional singer with various bands here in the Pacific Northwest. Since then, she has appeared in Boeing Boeing, See How They Run, Anything Goes, Young Frankenstein, Murder on the Nile, Sister Act, The Events, Rocky Horror Show, and The Ghost of David Belasco. Lisa was thrilled to play Fonsia in The Gin Game at Lakewood’s Side Door Stage and was most recently seen as Dora in A Tomb With a View. As a member of the Northwest Community Gospel Chorus for 15 years, she sings with the Oregon Symphony for the annual Gospel Christmas concert.

Jim Peerenboom as Elisha Whitney

Dan Peerenboom has been part of the Portland theatre community for the past 30 years, including work with Broadway Rose, Lakewood Theatre Co., Integrity Productions, New House Theatre, and the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus. He served as the Theatre Director at Lincoln High School for 27 years and has recently retired to pursue more arts opportunities.

Norman Wilson has performed at Broadway Rose as Barry Mann in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Corny Collins in Hairspray, Aldolpho in The Drowsy Chaperone, Marcus Lycus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Marcellus in The Music Man, Skimbleshanks in Cats. Other Portland-area credits include Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, Sir Robin in Spamalot, Freddie in Chess, Charlie in Annie Get Your Gun (Lakewood Theatre Co.); Rod in Avenue Q and God in An Act of God (triangle productions!); Mendel in Falsettos (Live On Stage); Lucentio in Taming of the Shrew, Alex Gal in Rough Crossing, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, Nick in Bell, Book and Candle (Bag&Baggage Productions); William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Anonymous Theatre). Joel Walker as Ship’s Purser

Joel Walker is a native of Portland and received his theatre training at Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. Some of his favorite Broadway Rose credits are Trails (Seth), Company (Peter), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Jimmy Smith), and The Drowsy Chaperone (Robert Martin, Drammy Award Winner). Other credits include Kiss Me Kate and Holiday Inn (The 5th Avenue Theatre). Joel could not be more delighted to be sharing the Broadway Rose stage again.

Kai de Mello-Folsom as Spit

Kai de Mello-Folsom is a recent transplant from Southern California where he earned a dual-B.F.A. in Theatre Performance and Film Production from Chapman University. Along with live performance credits at Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm, recent regional theatre highlights include Corny Collins in Hairspray (Stumptown Stages), Peter Shaw in Silent Sky (Magenta Theater), Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof (Educational Theatre Collaborative), and, prior to her passing, backup for legend Carol Channing in her New England tour of Carol Channing Live! In his other day job, Kai has spent the last decade producing and managing film, television and documentary projects for companies such as Apple, HBO, and Disney+. He is delighted to make his Broadway Rose debut in Anything Goes.

Bryce Earhart as Dippy

Bryce Earhart is delighted to be back on the Broadway Rose stage. He got his start tap dancing at Cedar Park Middle School playing Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr., and later in high school as Cosmo Brown in Singin’ in the Rain. Previous credits include Grease and Oklahoma! (Broadway Rose), The Aliens (Third Rail Repertory Theatre), and Just Press Save (Playroom Theater, NY). You can also catch Bryce on Netflix in Trinkets and American Vandal. Bryce extends heartfelt thanks to the cast, crew, and everyone who helped keep this ship afloat and sailing full steam ahead.

Ezekiel Cunningham as FBI Agent/Ensemble

Ezekiel Cunningham grew up in Portland, OR, where he was trained in classical ballet, hip-hop, Graham and Horton modern technique, as well as contemporary and classical acting. He has performed with Portland Metro Arts as a soloist and company dancer, and with local Portland theatre companies as an actor and stage reader. He continued his training in New York at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, graduating in the summer of 2023. He is now based in Portland, OR.

Xander Dean as Sailor Quartet/Ensemble

Xander Dean is delighted to set sail in Anything Goes at Broadway Rose. Recent credits include Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure (Peter Pan) with Motive Theatrics, Holiday Inn (Ted Hanover), 9 to 5Something Rotten, and Matilda The Musical at Lakewood Theatre Co. A passionate teaching artist and choreographer, Xander has worked with students at Northwest Children’s Theater, Willowbrook Arts Camp, and many local high school theatre departments. Offstage, he serves as Artistic Director of Motive Theatrics, where he’s proud to create bold, story-driven theatre that inspires the next generation of artists.

Liberty Dolence as Chastity

Liberty Dolence is happy to be making her Broadway Rose debut. Recent performance credits include Boeing Boeing (Experience Theatre Project), A Christmas Story and Holiday Inn (Lakewood Theatre Co.), Dragons Love Tacos (Oregon Children’s Theatre), Revolutionary Revue (Jester Educational Theater), Twelfth Night and Almost, Maine (Penguin Productions), Legally Blonde and Hairspray (Stumptown Stages), and The Cinnamon Bear (Portland Spirit). Liberty has also taught and choreographed for Oregon Children’s Theatre, Northwest Children’s Theater, Tigard-Tualatin School District, Van de Verre Productions, Gather Repertory Theater, Penguin Productions, and Oregon Thespian State Festival.

Brie Graham as Virtue

Brie Graham is excited to make her Broadway Rose debut. She is a Salem native who graduated from Sprague High School in 2024. She is working on her bachelor’s degree with a goal of becoming a physician’s assistant. Performing encompasses every part of her life. You may have seen her in Elsinore Theatrical Productions’ A Christmas Story. Her favorite roles have been Anna in Frozen Jr. and Kim in Bye Bye Birdie. Her greatest accomplishment is directing, choreographing, and performing in the Oregon State Thespian Festival’s state-winning large-group musical, Cell Block Tango. When not performing, she coaches All-Star Cheerleading for Salem Cheer Catz.

Majd Murad as Henry T. Dobson/Ensemble

Majd Murad is honored to return to the stage after his first audition in over 12 years. He holds a B.A. in Theatre from UC Riverside and trained at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. He performed throughout Los Angeles and San Francisco before relocating to Portland, where he joined the Stage Fright Festival, rebuilding the festival’s website by day while haunting the stage by night as Miss Terri Terror. Majd works as a frontend developer at Squarespace, moonlights as a theatrical mask maker in various mediums, and loves hiking with his dog, Rocko.

Ashlyn Nicole as Purity

Ashlyn Nicole is delighted to be making her Broadway Rose debut. Regional theatre credits include Kate Monster in Avenue Q and Miss Dorothy Brown in Thoroughly Modern Millie (Sturges Theatre), as well as Cathy in The Last Five Years (California Theatre). She provided lead vocals in Talamasca and is the voice over artist for Kito and Kira in Jewels of the Rainforest at the San Diego Zoo.

Emerson Skogen as Reporter/Ensemble

Emerson Skogen is thrilled to have joined the Broadway Rose family for this fantastic production of Anything Goes. Favorite past credits include Alice By Heart (White Rabbit/Alfred), Disney’s Newsies (Jack Kelly), Next to Normal (Young Dan), High School Musical (Troy Bolton), The SpongeBob Musical (Patrick Star), FAME: The Musical (Schlomo), and heartfelt favorite,  A Charlie Brown Christmas (Linus). Outside the theater, Emerson loves performing as a singer/guitarist and writing his own music. He also enjoys teaching guitar, taking theatre classes, and working out with friends

Jadyn Smith as Charity

Jadyn Smith is thrilled to make their professional theatre debut with Broadway Rose in Anything Goes. They previously performed in the company’s teen productions of Newsies and Big Fish and has been involved in over 20 productions as a performer, technician, and or designer. Jadyn is currently double majoring in Dance and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Anthropology at Western Oregon University. At WOU, they regularly perform in faculty and student-choreographed dance concerts, guest artist residencies, and the American College Dance Association. Jadyn is passionate about storytelling through movement and is excited to take this next step in their theatre journey.

Steven Spanopoulos as Sailor Quartet/Ensemble

Steven Spanopoulos is a Jeff-nominated choreographer/instructor/tapper. Prior to moving to Portland, Steven taught tap dance for Roosevelt University/Joffrey-Chicago, Columbia College, North Central College, Conte, and The School at Porchlight. Regional works include The Producers (Mercury Theatre), Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), Billy Elliot and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Drury Lane Theatre), 42nd Street (Paramount Theatre), What a Glorious Feeling and Singin’ in the Rain (Theatre at the Center), and My One and Only (The Marriott Theatre). On National Tap Dance Day 2021, Steven was a featured virtual performer with Chicago Tap All Stars.

Haunz Stroschein as Ensemble

Haunz Stroschein is thrilled to be joining this amazing cast for his first show at Broadway Rose! Haunz graduated from Central Washington University with his B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. He was previously seen as Gabe in First Date at Centerstage, Ethan in The Full Monty at Renton Civic Theatre, and Riff-Raff in Rocky Horror at Tacoma Musical Playhouse.

Manny Tijerina as Sailor Quartet/Ensemble

Manny Tijerina is making his Broadway Rose debut. Regional credits include Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys (Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma); The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Rent, Assassins, Crazy for You, Jesus Christ Superstar, 21 Chump Street, and Myths and Hymns (University of Oklahoma). Manny is the writer, music director, and arranger of the original song cycle Elevator Music, produced through OUMT’s Artists’ Gallery.

Hayden Tyler as Sailor Quartet/Ensemble

Hayden Tyler is overjoyed to be making their Broadway Rose Debut. Local credits include work with Funhouse Lounge, CRAVE Theatre, PlayWrites, NWCTS, Red Boot Productions, The Fireside Carolers, and Chick Flick Films. Selected regional credits are Rudolph (Tuacahn Amphitheatre), Bright Star (Lees-McRae Summer Theatre), Anything Goes, Legally Blonde (Temple Theatre), On Your Feet (North Carolina Theatre). Hayden earned a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Lees-McRae College in North Carolina.

Melody Wells-Benitez as Ensemble

Melody Wells-Benitez is thrilled to be back at Broadway Rose for Anything Goes, having most recently been the Assistant Choreographer for Grease and Dance Ensemble of Cinderella. Favorite professional roles include Co-Choreographer/Dance Captain/Ensemble in 9 to 5, Asst. Choreographer/Ensemble for Holiday Inn, Ensemble/Dance Captain in Elf, Something Rotten!A Christmas Story, Assistant Choreographer for All Shook Up (Lakewood Theatre Co.), Choreographer for Bright Star (George Fox University), Choreographer for Pete the Cat (Northwest Children’s Theater), and Director/Choreographer for Alice in Wonderland Jr. (Riverdale Grade School, where she has taught for four years). Melody is currently studying Elementary Education/Special Education at Grand Canyon University.

Blythe Woodland as Ensemble

Blythe Woodland is thrilled to be back on stage at the Deb Fennell. Blythe has previously been seen at Broadway Rose in Five Golden Rings, Happily Ever After (Gala), A Very Merry PDX-Mas, and Hairspray (Drammy Award). Other credits include Judy Bernly in 9 to 5 The Musical and Suzy Simpson in Marvelous Wonderettes at Lakewood Theatre Co. Blythe is so thankful for the incredible creative opportunities she has had this year, including teaching Adult Jazz at Broadway Rose and choreographing Emma A Pop Musical JV at Twality Middle School. Blythe spends her “free” time coaching and serving on the board for South Beaverton Youth Cheer and hanging out with her three kids, husband, and their adorable golden retriever Tilly.
