Act 2, Scene 1: 2022 – 2026
On June 20, 2022, Broadway Rose Theatre Company staff, sponsors, donors, and patrons gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the newly renovated and expanded New Stage. The $3.4 million expansion was made possible through the unwavering dedication of generous donors and supporting foundations. That same year, Broadway Rose presented all seven productions to live, in-person audiences for the first time since the pandemic.
In the summer of 2023, the company returned to the Deb Fennell Auditorium at Tigard High School for the first time since 2018, presenting two beloved classics: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. In the fall, Broadway Rose welcomed Meredith Gordon as Executive Director, marking the beginning of her dedicated leadership. Working alongside Producing Artistic Director Sharon Maroney and Managing Director Dan Murphy, the organization continued to grow and thrive—cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners while advancing its mission through active fundraising and community engagement.
The 2024 season became known as the “season of sellouts.” Beautiful: The Carole King Musical drew the highest number of first-time ticket buyers in Broadway Rose history and became the company’s second best-selling show to date. The captivating, star-studded cast closed the run with sold-out performances during the final two weekends, launching a streak of four consecutive sold-out productions. Both the fall and winter shows sold out before opening night, marking an unprecedented success for the theatre.
In 2025, the Broadway Rose Theatre Guild celebrated 20 years of service and support. Guild members continued to provide invaluable assistance through fundraising, marketing, hospitality, and social activities that enhance the connection between staff and patrons. After twelve years of anticipation, Broadway Rose successfully brought Triangle, a new musical, to the stage. Featuring an exceptional cast and guest director Michael Baron—Producing Artistic Director at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma—the production became one of the company’s most talked-about shows. Opening night featured a special talkback with writer Thomas Mizer and director Michael Baron, setting the tone for a memorable and successful run.
The 2026 season marks Broadway Rose Theatre Company’s 35th anniversary—an extraordinary milestone that promises an exciting season lineup, new event-hosting opportunities, and a celebration of belonging. Founding Managing Director Dan Murphy has announced his retirement at the end of the year, capping a remarkable legacy of leadership. In March, Broadway Rose will welcome more than 80 leaders from the musical theatre industry to its theater for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s spring conference. The development-focused gathering will feature keynote speakers from across the country, offering innovative ideas, new information, and networking opportunities that continue to position Broadway Rose as a leader in the regional theatre landscape.
